Day 15 Saturday 28th July Grosmont to Robin Hood's Bay
Distance 15.5 Miles .......... Ascent 1720 Feet

The climb out of Grosmont onto Sleights Moor is quite a pull and a shock to the start of the last day. As soon as the summit is reached there is a steep drop down into Littlebeck which is an extremely attractive area. A gentler and shorter climb leads up onto Sneaton Low Moor and over the last moorland stretch on Graystones Hills to Hawsker and on to the sea at Maw Wyke Hole. A clifftop wlk then takes you to Robin Hood's Bay and the end of the walk - deposit your pebble from St Bees in the sea and head for The Bay Hotel.

Actually quite a strenuous day - but it is the last !

Some notes on the day

Set off up the path through the woods which was reasonably easy to start with but got more difficult and muddy. About halfway up seemed to get lost and got onto the wrong side of the beck. Very muddy and eventually had to cross the river and continue up to the car park where Dave was waiting for us. Continued up the road, across a piece of moorland that was horribly boggy at the end. Then along the road and then across the moorland of Graystone Hills which would have been extremely difficult to navigate in poor visibility. Left the moor down an awful stony path between hedges and onto a road into Hawsker. Had a couple of pints and a sandwich in the Hare and Hounds in Hawsker (the other groups must have passed us while we were in the pub). Left Hawsker on the road and then through the caravan site to reach the clifftop. Along the cliffs which was very pleasant but still with one or two climbs. Got to Robin Hood’s Bay at about 3pm. Down to the Bay Hotel, had several pints, taking photographs, saying goodbye to people and so on.
